The other day I was watching my daughter’s soccer game, and it hit me hard right on the head. No, not the soccer ball, silly; an idea. I know you like analogies, so here goes.

There are two girls in particular that I was watching during this game. One of them was looking at the sky and wondering if it was going to rain soon. When the ball went by, she saw it and then her face registered recognition. You could just tell that she was thinking, “Uh oh, I think it was my turn to kick the ball. Oh, well. Someone else has it now.”

The other girl went charging after the ball. Her long hair was flying and bouncing around her head, and she had a huge grin on her face. She was all over that ball running as agile as she could. She charged right towards the goal and got the ball in. She couldn’t have been any happier.

Now, both of these kids enjoy soccer. They both laugh and smile and run out onto the field. They love being outside. They enjoy hanging out with their friends. But one of these kids has a strong passion for soccer, and the other one, well… you get the idea.

Business is just like soccer. If you want to win the goal, you need to have a drive for the game. You need to want that goal! Just like business… if you want your business to be a success, you need to WANT it.

Those people who are most successful at a business are those that have a true passion for what they are doing. That’s right. If you are not passionate about your business and you do not have a passion for helping the people that are your customers, then chances are your business will not be as successful as you want it to be.

Passion

Passion is the driving force behind everything you do in your business. It is what keeps you motivated during challenging times. Passion is what propels you forward when you have obstacles to overcome. Passion is what brought me to where I am today.

You will find that when you are following your dreams and accomplishing your goals, it soon becomes easy to stay motivated and energized to work on your business even when things can get tough.

But how do you figure out the business idea that fits your dreams and goals?

In order to decide the best idea for YOUR business, you really need to know yourself and understand yourself. It is not enough to just guess. You really need to know everything about yourself. It’s important to sit down with a journal and really dig down deep inside your soul. Find out what energizes and motivates you! Find out what gifts or talents you possess.

Once you get a handle on who you are, what you know, what you need to maintain a life balance, and where you want to go, then you are all set. Just start researching what other people are doing with those skills and dreams. Chances are there are plenty of ideas available to match your passion, skills and dreams. Just keep searching. Search inside yourself, search the internet and search the library.
